Testing out my 4" Softride Lift - snow - March of 1998

While out driving, I decided it was high time I took my 1977 Scout II out for a little easy four wheeling to test out the new 4" Skyjacker Softride suspension lift I'd installed a few weeks earlier.. so we pulled off the road a little ways up into the hil ls, and found this nice spot to test things out. We drove through the trail on the lower side, and then up and over the bank and onto the main dirt road. It was a great place to see how the suspension would articulate.

Yes, I know there are quite a few seemingly large images.. but even if I scaled 'em down they wouldn't be much smaller in file size so... I'll let everyone watch 'em as-is!

A distance shot, preparing to come down.

Starting over the lip

The passenger side rear tire is fully stuffed.. it nearly touches the rusted out section of the fender. This is one of my new 31x10.50" Cooper Discoverer STTs.. the fronts are still the BFG Trail TAs.

The passenger front, with the truck in the same position. It shows a little bit of articulation on the front axle.

A shot from the rear - the ol' Scout's a little twisted up..

A shot of the rear from the driver's side.. Notice how close that rear Cooper is to the front edge of the rear fender well.. Also notice how much room there is between the top fo the tire and the top of the fender arch!

A close-up shot of the rear. The Cooper treadpattern is clearly visible, along with an idea of the room on the passenger (unsprung) side. Julie was driving and was terrified she was going to roll because the driver's rear tire had actually come unweight ed and lifted off the ground for a moment.

Here *I* am driving. I took a slightly different line trying to come up, and started "walking" downhill sideways thanks to the rear Tracklok.. but I did throw some snow!

I made it.. cresting the berm.

And here I come down the hill.

Takin' a break later that day.. just because I'm lazy.. :-)

In my driveway.. you can see my yellow '72 Scout II through the window. Yep, that's me. Handsome looking son of a gun, isn't he? ;)

What a muddy mess! That's what I get for wheelin' in the spring around here.. it's that great clay mud that just won't come off.. even after a $10 trip to the car wash.. two days in a row!

And another shot.. from the front.
